The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) had floated a tender to procure approximately 49 crore litres of ethanol for the fourth quarter (August to October 2025) of the Ethanol Supply Year 2024–25. The allocation process has now concluded, with the entire quantity matched to the initial tendered volume.
Maize emerged as the predominant feedstock, contributing the largest share to the total supply.
Breakdown of Ethanol Allocation by Feedstock:
Ethanol is produced using various raw materials, known as feedstocks. The allocation for each feedstock is as follows:
- Maize: Topped the list with 381,262 KL allocated, translating to 38.13 crore litres.
- Damaged Food Grains (DFG): Accounted for 57,381 KL, equivalent to 5.74 crore litres.
- Surplus FCI Rice (SFG): Received 36,019 KL in allocation, or 3.60 crore litres.
- B-Heavy Molasses (BHM): Had 11,921 KL allotted, amounting to 1.19 crore litres.
- C-Heavy Molasses (CHM): Saw an allocation of 4,181 KL, or 0.42 crore litres.
- Sugarcane Juice (SCJ): Received the smallest allocation, at 2,488 KL or 0.25 crore litres.
The tender for cycle 5 was issued to enhance ethanol production and to ensure assured offtake for new and upcoming distilleries.
