Trina partners with Arbro to build EUR-100 million green hydrogen plant

Trina Solar Co Ltd, a Chinese solar and storage expert, and Spanish renewables consultancy Arbro have teamed up to construct a green hydrogen plant in Huelva, southern Spain.

The announcement came from the Huelva City Council, following a meeting with Trina Solar International System and Arbro to discuss the project. The City Council revealed that the investment from both companies would amount to approximately EUR 100 million (USD 107.8m).

The green hydrogen production facility, utilizing Trina Solar’s proprietary electrolysis technology, is slated to be situated in the Huelva Business Park, as per the announcement.

Huelva and its vicinity have become a hotspot for green hydrogen and green methanol projects, with several companies selecting the region. Notably, Cepsa is leading the development of a 1-GW hub in the area.

Mayor Pilar Miranda highlighted the City Council’s proactive approach in attracting investors, including the implementation of a streamlined permitting process, digitalization initiatives, and the establishment of an investor service office. Furthermore, efforts are underway to expand the available industrial land to meet the growing demand from companies.
