Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) and HHP Five Private Limited (Hygenco) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a green hydrogen and green ammonia project at TSSEZL’s Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha.
Hygenco, renowned for producing low-cost green hydrogen, aims to gradually produce 1 Million Tonnes Per Annum (1 MnTPA) from this plant.
The company targets the commissioning of the project’s initial phase by December 2026.
TSSEZL Managing Director, Manikanta Naik said the total committed capacity of green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing at the Industrial Park is now around 2.6 MnTPA.
“We have strived to create a conducive environment where our customers find the necessary infrastructure to conduct their business,” Naik added. “The enhancement of power and water infrastructure, crucial for the green hydrogen and ammonia industries, will further facilitate the green fuel sector.”
Amit Bansal, Founder and CEO of Hygenco, said by commissioning India’s first green hydrogen project earlier this year, we will extend the application of our superior technology to this project, thereby producing the lowest-cost green ammonia for our clients. In line with our strategic vision of being a dominant player in this sector worldwide, the produce from this plant in the initial phase will be exported, for which advanced discussions with various clients are already taking place.
The ongoing development of the Utility Corridor between GIP and Gopalpur Port will enhance logistics and pipeline connectivity for the project.
Hygenco has secured numerous binding long-term offtakes of green hydrogen in India, including at the country’s recently commissioned first megawatt-scale plant in Hisar, Haryana.
Previously, TSSEZL had entered into similar agreements with other manufacturers to establish green hydrogen and ammonia projects totaling 1.6 MnTPA at Gopalpur Industrial Park.
Congratulations,India building decision by Tata Steel company to establish green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Odisha. It is suggested for establishment of such projects in every state of India for many benefits . In addition TATA Steel may took decision to establish such projects at global level in poorer countries including Africa continent on priority. Best Wishes.Dr. Patil A.S.
