Nitin Gadkari urges automobile manufacturers body To promote ethanol, flex fuels

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday urged representatives from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to explore ways to increase public acceptance of ethanol and flex fuels.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) shared on X that Gadkari chaired a review meeting with SIAM representatives at Transport Bhawan to assess the automobile industry’s preparedness for ethanol and flex fuels.

The discussion focused on the industry’s plans to introduce ethanol-powered vehicles in the coming months, MoRTH added.

“He encouraged SIAM members to find ways to make these fuels more appealing to the public, drawing on Brazil’s successful integration of flex fuels and biofuels in its transport sector,” MoRTH said.

Gadkari also discussed how transitioning from fossil fuels to biofuels will help India become more self-reliant, reduce pollution, lower fossil fuel imports, and provide more affordable fuels to consumers, all while benefiting farmers.
