Green Hydrogen boost: Hygenco floats India’s largest RE power procurement tender for Green Ammonia project

Hygenco Green Energies has floated India’s largest tender for Renewable Energy (RE) procurement to support its upcoming Green Ammonia project. In a statement on Monday, the company announced that it is inviting bids for over 1,125 Megawatt (MW) or 1.1 Gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy, marking a significant step in its commitment to sustainability.

The company plans to procure 625 MW from solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and 500 MW from wind power. Hygenco emphasized that the tender includes favorable terms to minimize risk for developers and ensures a transparent procurement process, aiming to attract a diverse range of participants in the renewable energy sector. Bidders can find details on the official Hygenco website, https://www.hygenco.in/.

Amit Bansal, Co-Founder and CEO of Hygenco, stated, “As one of the few pure-play Green Hydrogen companies with operational assets, Hygenco is actively working toward enhancing India’s energy security and meeting climate goals. This significant tender of over 1 GW is one of our many pioneering initiatives and reflects our ambition to scale up India’s Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia market.”

Based in Gurgaon, Hygenco focuses on developing and deploying commercially viable green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. The company, which has strong expertise in designing, building, and operating Green Hydrogen projects, commissioned India’s first Green Hydrogen project in Hisar earlier this year, inaugurated by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel. Hygenco plans to invest USD 2.5 billion over the next three years to establish Green Hydrogen projects across India.
