Furusato FIC Energy, a collaboration between Chubu Electric Power, Inabata & Co., and Furusato Mokuzai Logistics K.K., has commenced construction on the Yahaba Biomass Power Station.
Located in Yahaba-cho, Shiwa-gun, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, this wood-fired biomass plant will produce 1,990 kW of electricity primarily from forest timber offcuts and unused thinned wood, with operations set to begin in January 2026.
The three companies, along with the project entity, are advancing the construction with the support and cooperation of the local community and stakeholders. They stated that this initiative will enhance the utilization of forest timber offcuts and promote a regional recycling-oriented society.
