Cyient wins key contract for green hydrogen facility in Norway

New Delhi: Global engineering firm Cyient has landed a major contract to provide engineering services for a new green hydrogen facility in Bodø, Norway. The facility, located at Langstranda, is being developed by GreenH Bodø — a joint venture between Norwegian hydrogen infrastructure developer GreenH and German renewable energy investment firm Luxcara, reports The Economic Times.

The project is designed to supply green hydrogen to Norway’s maritime and heavy transport sectors. A long-term agreement is already in place with ferry operator Torghatten Nord AS to fuel its Vestfjorden ferries with the hydrogen produced at the new facility.

Under the contract, Cyient will deliver both owner’s engineering and detailed plant engineering services. Construction of the facility began in late 2024.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Cyient as we move forward with our hydrogen plans in Bodø. Their experience will help us finalize the technical details of our plant and lay the groundwork for procurement, construction, and installation of what will be our first green hydrogen production and bunkering site,” said Espen Lied, Chief Operating Officer at GreenH.

Espen Berg, Managing Director of Cyient Norway, added, “Green hydrogen is a powerful tool in the global shift toward cleaner fuels, and it plays a key role as an energy carrier. We’re proud to be chosen to support the engineering for this pioneering facility — the first of its kind focused on supplying hydrogen for maritime transport.”
