Coal India arm bags order to set up 600 MW solar plant at Jalaun Solar Park

Coal India Limited (CIL) has received a Letter of Award for setting up a 600 MW solar power plant at the Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh, the company informed stock exchanges on July 1, 2026.

According to a regulatory filing made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015, the order has been awarded by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a domestic entity. The project involves setting up two units of 300 MW each, totalling 600 MW capacity, at a tariff of Rs 2.73 per kWh.

The filing pegged the estimated project cost at Rs 2,831.11 crore. The plant is to be commissioned within 18 months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

As per the terms outlined in the filing, Coal India is required to submit the documents specified under the Letter of Award and subsequently sign the PPA, the Implementation Support Agreement (ISA) and the Land Right to Use Agreement (LRUA). The company will also need to pay upfront solar park development charges before the ISA is signed.

The filing, signed by Executive Director (Company Secretariat) and Compliance Officer B P Dubey, clarified that the promoter or promoter group has no interest in the awarding entity and that the transaction does not fall within the ambit of related party transactions.

The development marks Coal India’s continued push into renewable energy as part of its diversification strategy beyond coal mining operations.
