As demand for fleet decarbonization intensifies, Optimus Technologies announced on April 22 the production launch of its latest Vector System, a fuel technology that enables heavy-duty engines to run entirely on 100% biodiesel (B100). The system is now available for integration with trucks equipped with the International S13 engine platform through ship-thru options from Fontaine Modification, reports Biodiesel Magazine.
Designed to offer Class 8 fleets a practical, immediate path to decarbonization, the Vector System comes at a time when electric truck adoption continues to face major hurdles, including high costs, limited infrastructure, and operational constraints.
An International Truck featuring the S13 engine and Optimus’ Vector System will be showcased at the ACT Expo in Anaheim, California, from April 28 to May 1 at booth #6353. Optimus CEO Colin Huwyler will also speak at the “Powering Fleets Toward a Cleaner Future” session on April 28 at 8:45 AM, highlighting the growing role of 100% biodiesel in fleet sustainability strategies.
The Vector System allows fleets to run on B100 without losing engine performance or warranty coverage. It also maintains the ability to switch to traditional diesel when needed, ensuring critical flexibility for fleet operations. B100 biodiesel, a commercially available, near-zero-carbon fuel, can be used without the need for major infrastructure changes.
“Fleets are looking for decarbonization options that are affordable and available now—not years down the road,” said Colin Huwyler, CEO of Optimus Technologies. “By combining the Vector System with the S13 engine, one of the most efficient diesel engines available, we are offering fleets an immediate solution for deep carbon reductions without sacrificing reliability, performance, or cost.”
Starting May 1, 2025, customers can order new trucks equipped with the Vector System through Optimus’ partnership with Fontaine Modification, a leader in commercial vehicle integration. With over 1,100 Vector-equipped trucks already operating across more than 100 million real-world miles, Optimus has established itself as a frontrunner in Class 8 fleet decarbonization. The availability of the Vector System for the S13 engine platform marks another significant expansion for the company.
Earlier this year, Pilot Flying J introduced the nation’s first retail fueling locations offering 100% biodiesel. Optimus’ growing engine compatibility and the expanding public B100 fueling network are helping fleets transition to cleaner fuels without delay.
