Reports claiming that Adani Group’s 484-megawatt (MW) wind power projects in Sri Lanka’s northern Mannar and Pooneryn districts have been cancelled are inaccurate and misleading, an Adani Group spokesperson stated on Friday.
“We firmly deny that the project has been cancelled,” the spokesperson said in a brief statement.
The spokesperson explained that the Sri Lankan Cabinet’s decision on January 2, 2025, to review the tariff approved in May 2024 is part of a routine process, especially with the new government, to ensure the terms align with their current energy policies and priorities.
Additionally, the spokesperson reaffirmed Adani Group’s commitment to investing USD 1 billion in Sri Lanka’s green energy sector.
