Transportlux Ukraine invests UAH 40 million in a bioethanol plant in the Zhytomyr region

Transportlux Ukraine has invested approximately UAH 40 million in the construction of a bioethanol production plant in the Raigorodka community of Zhytomyr region, according to Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, reported Open4business.com.

Bunechko highlighted the project’s significance, noting that the bioethanol produced at the plant will help meet new regulations requiring automobile fuel in Ukraine to include at least 5% bioethanol starting this May. “Having our own production capacity allows us to support domestic producers and the economy while reducing reliance on imports,” he stated in a Telegram post.

The plant primarily uses food industry waste as raw materials, including animal fat from chicken farms and by-products from vegetable oil production. This approach addresses two challenges simultaneously: the production of bioethanol and the recycling of industrial waste.

“The facility is built with advanced technologies, aiming to reduce dependence on traditional energy resources, create new jobs, and boost the region’s economy,” Bunechko emphasized.

Regional media on Friday reported the country’s first litre of biodiesel coming off the plant’s production lines. Mihail Popu, an investor in this project and citizen of Moldova, says: “I really look forward to good results; all these developments – producing this oil from a domestic crop as energy – all should help the people by making communities around here livable.”

“This venture will not only work as employment avenues but farmers, too, have better possibilities selling oilseed within more agreeable terms.”

The company will increase production to meet the fuel demand in the community and export opportunities to make the plant a contributor to local and national energy goals.
