Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, has highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to clean energy and sustainable industry during the Saudi Green Initiative Forum. The forum, held alongside the COP16 conference on combating desertification in Riyadh, focused on practical actions to address environmental challenges.
The minister shared progress on Saudi Arabia’s ambitious projects, including building the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility in NEOM. This facility aims to meet 10% of global green hydrogen production goals, supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote cleaner energy sources.
Alkhorayef stressed the need for countries to work together to achieve carbon neutrality and emphasized the Kingdom’s steps to support industries in adopting greener technologies. One such step is the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program, which helps reduce emissions at industrial sites by introducing eco-friendly alternatives.
Alkhorayef pointed to Jubail Industrial City as an example of how industrial growth can coexist with environmental care. Once a desert, Jubail has become a thriving industrial hub and green space over the past 50 years, showing that economic development can go hand in hand with sustainability.
