Two-wheeler makers can soon begin mass production of flex-fuel vehicles: Media report

The automotive industry has expressed strong support for the Indian government’s push toward clean energy vehicles. Major two-wheeler manufacturers have informed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari of their readiness to commence mass production of flex-fuel vehicles. These vehicles, which can operate on petrol with higher ethanol blends, are a crucial development for minimizing the environmental impact of transportation, reported CNBCTV18.

In a recent meeting with Minister Gadkari, prominent two-wheeler companies such as TVS, Hero MotoCorp, Honda, and Bajaj Auto confirmed their plans to produce vehicles capable of running on 85% ethanol and even higher blends. These companies are anticipated to showcase their production-ready flex-fuel models at the Auto Expo scheduled for January 2025.

Additionally, the industry has requested policy support to facilitate the widespread adoption of these flex-fuel two-wheelers.
