Oriana Power to invest Rs 4,500 crore in Maharashtra green hydrogen project

Mumbai: Oriana Power Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to invest about Rs 4,500 crore in setting up an integrated green hydrogen project in the state, Energetica India reported.

The proposed project will include facilities for the production of green hydrogen and downstream products such as green ammonia and green methanol, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The investment will be made in line with the Maharashtra government’s policies and implemented within a defined timeline, it said.

Under the MoU, the state government will facilitate the project by helping the company secure the necessary approvals, permissions, registrations and statutory clearances from relevant authorities.

The government will also assist the company in availing applicable fiscal incentives under existing state policies and regulations to support timely implementation of the project.

The investment is aimed at strengthening Maharashtra’s green energy ecosystem and supporting India’s transition to cleaner fuels under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Earlier, in March 2026, TrueRE Oriana Power signed a long-term Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement (GAPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of 60,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually. The agreement was signed under the National Green Hydrogen Mission at a discovered price of Rs 52.25 per kg.

The latest investment reinforces the company’s expansion in the green hydrogen value chain, including the production of green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol for domestic and industrial applications.
