Kanadevia, Bahwan Engineering partner to develop green hydrogen projects in Oman

Japan’s Kanadevia Corporation has entered into a strategic partnership with Bahwan Engineering Company (BEC) to jointly develop green hydrogen and other low-carbon fuel projects in Oman as the country advances its clean energy and hydrogen ambitions.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation across the entire project lifecycle, enabling the two companies to pursue green hydrogen opportunities in Oman, where the government is accelerating the development of a low-carbon energy sector, GDN Online reported.

Under the partnership, Kanadevia and Bahwan Engineering will work together on project bidding, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and sales for green hydrogen, e-methane and other low-carbon fuel projects.

Kanadevia said the collaboration would combine its water electrolysis stack technology, which is used in hydrogen production systems, with Bahwan Engineering’s engineering, construction and project execution expertise, as well as its established customer base in Oman.

The company said the partnership is intended to strengthen cooperation from the bid preparation stage through engineering, procurement, manufacturing and sales, with the aim of delivering higher-quality solutions for the country’s growing low-carbon fuel sector.

Kanadevia is already involved in hydrogen-based methanation projects in Oman. The company previously signed a contract with Oman LNG to provide technical verification and engineering services for what it described as one of the world’s largest commercial e-methane production plants.

The planned facility is expected to produce synthetic methane by combining captured carbon dioxide (CO₂) with green hydrogen, supporting efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the energy sector.
