Vikram Solar crosses 10 GW global deployment mark, expands clean energy push

New Delhi: Vikram Solar has crossed 10 gigawatts (GW) in cumulative global solar module deployments, marking a major milestone in its growth, the company said on Monday.

According to the company, the 10 GW deployment—equivalent to more than 25 million solar modules—is enough to power over 5 million homes in India. The firm has doubled its installations from 5 GW to 10 GW within just two years, reflecting strong demand and steady expansion, The Economic Times reported.

While most of its installations are in India, Vikram Solar has also grown its presence overseas, with around 1.5 GW of exports spread across 39 countries.

The company has built a manufacturing capacity of 9.5 GW across facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Its 5 GW plant in Vallam, Tamil Nadu, features advanced manufacturing systems. The Gangaikondan facility is also being expanded, with plans to scale up to 6 GW of module capacity and 12 GW of cell capacity.

As part of its expansion, the company is entering the energy storage segment through its unit VSL Powerhive, with plans to set up a 5 GWh battery energy storage system by FY27. It has also introduced VION, a lithium battery brand aimed at residential and mobility backup solutions.

Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary said the milestone would help the company contribute to the growing global demand for reliable and large-scale clean energy solutions.

Headquartered in Kolkata, Vikram Solar is among India’s leading solar module manufacturers with a presence in multiple international markets.
