The German Federal Network Agency has launched new tenders to support 726.7 MW of biomass capacity and 300 MW of biomethane projects, Renewables Now reported.
The agency, also known as Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA), said interested bidders can submit applications for both auctions until April 1, 2026.
For the biomethane tender, the maximum support available has been set at EUR 0.2313 per kWh. The regulator recently raised this ceiling by 10% after no bids were received in the 2025 biomethane rounds.
In the biomass auction, the maximum bid price remains unchanged at EUR 0.1943 per kWh for new plants and EUR 0.1983 per kWh for existing facilities. Projects must have secured the required permits by March 4, 2026, to qualify for participation.
The agency said the rules under Germany’s updated biomass support framework will apply to both tenders, following state aid approval granted by the European Commission in September 2025. The biomass auction held in October 2025 was the first conducted under the revised rules, which include higher tender volumes.
