Nash Energy, India’s only large-scale manufacturer of LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells, has entered into a strategic partnership with US-based Rincell Corporation, a company specializing in next-generation rechargeable battery chemistries. The two firms have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly manufacture advanced Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery cells in India, a move that marks a major step forward in strengthening the country’s clean energy and electric mobility sectors.
Key Highlights of the Collaboration:
- Strategic Alliance: Nash Energy and Rincell will collaborate on the manufacturing and commercialisation of advanced NMC cells for the Indian market.
- Technology Transfer: As part of the agreement, Rincell will provide Nash Energy with access to its high-C rate battery cell technology.
- Manufacturing Expansion: Nash Energy, known for establishing India’s first mass-scale cylindrical lithium-ion cell facility, will set up a Giga factory with multi-chemistry capabilities. This will be developed in phases, aligned with market demand.
- Sector Focus: The partnership will cater to critical sectors such as drones, defence, aerospace, and electric vehicles, following a revenue-sharing model.
- Customer Collaboration: Both companies will engage closely with key domestic and international customers to refine next-generation battery cell designs and develop long-term commercial partnerships.
Nash Energy has already positioned itself as a pioneer in India’s battery manufacturing ecosystem, operating the country’s first mass-production LFP cell facility in Bengaluru and serving over 15 clients globally. The company plans to scale its operations further with a phased expansion targeting a total capacity of approximately 10 GWh.
Through this collaboration, Nash Energy will lead the manufacturing and market rollout of high-performance NMC battery cells using Rincell’s proprietary technology. Initial production will include popular high-energy and high-power formats such as the 18650 (4.1Ah), 21700 (5.8Ah), and custom NMC cells (5Ah capacity with 5C, and 4Ah capacity with 8C), offering tailored solutions for a range of industrial and mobility applications.
Both companies will also work alongside Tier-1 and Tier-2 customers to support current purchase agreements and jointly explore future cell design innovations. Their shared focus on quality, performance, and localised manufacturing aims to address the growing demand for advanced battery solutions in India and abroad.
“We’re excited to join hands with Rincell to introduce world-class battery technology in India,” said Sanjay S. Wadhwa, Managing Director of Nash Energy. “This collaboration will drive progress in clean energy adoption and accelerate the growth of electric mobility across the country.”
Jignesh Parikh, Co-Founder and CEO of Rincell Corporation, added, “By combining our cutting-edge technology with Nash Energy’s manufacturing capabilities and market understanding, we’re well-positioned to serve India’s rapidly evolving energy needs and expand our global footprint.”
The partnership will continue to evolve based on customer feedback and market trends, ensuring both companies stay at the forefront of battery innovation.
