A shocking ethanol tanker theft occurred on March 22 in the BKT police station area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh where a gang of six individuals stole a tanker filled with ethanol. Following a detailed investigation, the Crime and Surveillance team of North Zone arrested the six suspects on Monday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ranjeet Awasthi, Ramji Awasthi, Mukut Shukla, Abhay Singh, Ajit Yadav, and Monu Singh.
According to police reports, the theft was reported by the tanker driver, who stated that around midnight, four unidentified individuals in a car stopped his ethanol-laden tanker near the SB Cold Storage Ice Factory in Rampur Devray. Posing as excise officers, the thieves seized the tanker and called another vehicle. With the help of two accomplices, they forcibly loaded the ethanol into their vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The police registered a case and formed specialized teams to capture the criminals. Intelligence gathered revealed that the robbers had fled towards Dubagga. Using the GPS tracker on the stolen tanker, law enforcement successfully tracked the vehicle and arrested all suspects.
The police recovered the stolen tanker, valued at approximately 50 lakh rupees, along with an estimated 30 lakh rupees worth of ethanol.
