US fuel ethanol production fell by more than 6% in the week ended September 18, while ethanol stocks and exports also declined, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on September 23 and reported by Ethanol Producer Magazine.
Ethanol production averaged 1.028 million barrels per day during the week, down 71,000 barrels per day from 1.099 million barrels per day in the previous week. Despite the weekly decline, production was 4,000 barrels per day higher than in the same week a year earlier.
Ethanol stocks stood at 24.683 million barrels at the end of the week, down 537,000 barrels from 25.22 million barrels recorded a week earlier. However, inventories remained 1.215 million barrels higher than the level seen during the corresponding week last year.
US fuel ethanol exports also declined during the week. Exports averaged 122,000 barrels per day, compared with 161,000 barrels per day in the previous week, a fall of 39,000 barrels per day. Exports were also 10,000 barrels per day lower than during the same week a year earlier.
The EIA reported no fuel ethanol imports during the week ended September 18.
