Ukraine’s state-owned renewable energy buyer, JSC “Guaranteed Buyer”, has launched two auctions offering a combined 150 MW support quota for new solar power projects, including solar plants paired with battery storage, Taiyang News reported.
The first auction covers a 50 MW solar PV quota, with the maximum bid price set at €0.08 per kWh.
The second auction offers a 100 MW quota for solar-plus-storage projects, with a ceiling of €0.12 per kWh. Projects participating in this category must install energy storage with a power capacity of at least 80% of the solar plant’s installed capacity and storage capacity of at least 2 kWh for every kW of installed solar capacity.
Under the solar-plus-storage scheme, support will be available from midnight to 11:59 am and from 2 pm to 11:59 pm. No market premium will be paid between 12 pm and 1:59 pm.
The auctions are open to projects across several Ukrainian regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy and Chernihiv, as well as Kyiv city.
Developers have until September 24, 2026, to submit their bids, with the auctions scheduled for September 25. The bidding will be conducted through the electronic trading system of JSC “Prozorro.Sale” via authorised electronic marketplaces.
The auctions are part of Ukraine’s efforts to expand distributed renewable generation and energy storage as the country rebuilds its power system amid electricity shortages and dependence on imports.
According to the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine, the country aims to add more than 1.5 GW of solar capacity and over 3 GWh of battery storage capacity in 2026.
The inclusion of storage in the latest auction is expected to support greater flexibility in solar power generation and help strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s electricity system.
