Sungrow Hydrogen has secured the largest portion of the hydrogen production equipment contract for the “100,000-ton Liquid Sunshine” Demonstration Project by China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical, a major national green hydrogen initiative. The company will supply 16 alkaline electrolyzers (each with a capacity of 1,200 Nm³/h) along with integrated gas-liquid separation and purification systems, further solidifying its position as a leader in large-scale industrial green hydrogen solutions.
The USD 680 million project aims to decarbonize coal-based industries by integrating renewable energy, hydrogen, and energy storage systems (ESS). Key elements of the project include:
625 MW of wind and solar power capacity
21,000 tons of green hydrogen production per year
100,000 tons of methanol synthesis annually, using CO₂ and green hydrogen
500,000 tons of CO₂ reduction upon completion
At the heart of the project is Sungrow Hydrogen’s adaptable green hydrogen production system, designed to meet rigorous standards for continuous, stable operation while efficiently integrating with variable renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. This system supports large-scale green hydrogen production and demonstrates the viability of green hydrogen-to-methanol conversion, offering scalable, low-carbon transition solutions for high-emission industries such as coal chemical engineering.
With several large-scale green hydrogen projects progressing globally, Sungrow Hydrogen is playing a crucial role in advancing the shift from pilot programs to industrial-scale adoption of green hydrogen worldwide.
