In a major Indo-US partnership in the green energy space, NexGen Energia Ltd.—a leading Indian company in the Bio-CNG sector—has entered into a strategic collaboration with Organic 121, a US-based biotechnology firm recognized for its expertise in microbial solutions for waste-to-energy conversion.
The partnership aims to strengthen Bio-CNG technology through joint research and development, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, scalability, and plant performance. Organic 121, founded by renowned biotech innovator Dr. Hemant Gupta, brings decades of experience in microbial fermentation and sustainable biotechnologies, which are critical to boosting Bio-CNG yields and overall system effectiveness.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Organic 121. Their cutting-edge technology, coupled with the green capital we’ve secured, positions us to accelerate our goal of becoming the largest EPC and technology player in the Bio-CNG space,” said Nishant Tiwari, Director of NexGen Energia.
As part of its growth plan, NexGen Energia has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several state governments—including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar—to establish hundreds of Bio-CNG plants. The company is also investing ₹3,000 crore in Gujarat to expand compressed biogas (CBG) and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and is in advanced negotiations to set up a ₹1,000 crore EV manufacturing facility in Jammu & Kashmir.
This alliance follows a recent USD $1 billion investment from a Kuwait-based firm, led by CEO Kishor Panda, further reinforcing global confidence in India’s renewable energy landscape.
“Our collaboration with Organic 121 reflects our strong commitment to integrating global innovation into India’s clean energy framework,” said Kishor Panda, CEO of NexGen Energia Ltd. “Backed by significant investment and a shared vision, we are well on track to building one of the world’s most expansive Bio-CNG infrastructures.”
NexGen Energia plans to establish over 1,000 Bio-CNG plants by 2030, with a total projected investment exceeding ₹40,000 crore. The partnership with Organic 121 is a key milestone in the company’s mission to drive sustainable energy growth and help India achieve its carbon neutrality goals.
