Madurai: Police detain tanker with 40,000 litres of biodiesel

Police apprehended a tanker carrying 40,000 litres of biodiesel without the required permit. During a patrol near Keezha Eral on the Thoothukudi – Madurai National Highway late Monday night, officers stopped an oil tanker from Andhra Pradesh.

Upon inspection and questioning of the driver, Ram Bhahadur from Uttar Pradesh, and cleaner Ayyanar from Pudur in Thoothukudi district, it was discovered that they lacked the necessary permit for transporting biodiesel.

Consequently, the police detained both the tanker and its occupants, handing them over to the Civil Supplies CID police for further investigation.
