Lhyfe and Masdar partner to boost green hydrogen projects in Europe

Lhyfe, a leader in green hydrogen production, has partnered with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar, the UAE’s leading clean energy company, to explore large-scale green hydrogen projects in Europe. The collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, reported Zawya.

This partnership aligns with Lhyfe’s 2024 strategy to collaborate with financial and industrial investors, along with experienced partners, to advance green hydrogen production. The agreement aims to explore investment and development opportunities across the green hydrogen value chain, with a focus on co-developing significant projects.

Lhyfe, established in 2019, has rapidly become a major player in green hydrogen, operating four production sites in Europe with several more under construction. Its projects represent a combined capacity of 9.5 GW, including large-scale initiatives that are ready to move forward. This strong track record was a key factor in Masdar’s decision to collaborate.

Masdar is targeting a renewable energy portfolio of 100 GW by 2030 and aims to produce 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually within the same timeframe. These goals align with the UAE’s commitment to tripling global renewable energy capacity by the end of the decade.

Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi, Chief Green Hydrogen Officer at Masdar, highlighted the importance of Europe in the global green hydrogen market, stating, “This collaboration with Lhyfe allows us to combine expertise and resources to accelerate development and support our growth ambitions.”

Lhyfe’s founder and CEO, Matthieu Guesné, praised Masdar’s commitment to renewable energy and green hydrogen innovation, noting their shared goal to decarbonize industries on a large scale. “By combining our complementary expertise, we aim to fast-track the deployment of large-scale projects that can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

This partnership marks a significant step in advancing green hydrogen technologies, supporting global efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources, and accelerating the decarbonization of industries.
