Patna: Reliance Industries is set to establish a biogas plant in Lohat, located in Bihar’s Madhubani district. The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has allocated 26.60 acres of land to Reliance in the Lohat Industrial Area (Phase-1) for the project, reports daily Jagran.
The proposed investment in the plant is around ₹125 crore. The project is expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 250 people, both directly and indirectly.
As part of the project, the plant will produce approximately 7,875 metric tonnes of compressed biogas and 80,000 metric tonnes of organic fertilizer annually. The initiative will significantly benefit local farmers, as the plant will utilize agricultural waste to generate clean energy and produce organic manure.
This project is seen as a boost to the Bihar government’s vision of promoting “green industrial development,” supporting both environmental sustainability and rural livelihoods.
