Firefly Green Fuels partners with Brazil’s Sanepar to advance sustainable aviation fuel production

Firefly Green Fuels, a company focused on developing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), has entered into a partnership with Sanepar, one of Brazil’s largest water and sanitation firms. The agreement will help Firefly expand its operations in Brazil and across Latin America, tapping into a growing market for renewable fuels, reports Bioenergy Insight.

This project will help turn locally produced biosolids like sewage into advanced biofuels such as SAF. With its large infrastructure network, this collaboration ensures that a steady supply of raw materials is achieved for the ever-increasing global demand for SAF.

This deal with Sanepar is a big deal for us as we expand further in Brazil, which is a global leader in biofuels,” said Firefly Green Fuels CEO James Hygate. “It reflects on our mission to reduce aircraft emissions and combat climate change through such policies. With the country’s government pushing biofuel production through new policies and incentives, we are excited about all the possibilities that this partnership holds.

Brazil has been a major player in biofuels for years, and recent government initiatives aim to increase the use of biofuels in transportation and promote the development of SAF technologies. Firefly’s partnership with Sanepar positions the company to take advantage of these favourable conditions while contributing to sustainable development.

The deal represents a milestone for Firefly, providing a stable supply of resources for SAF production while helping aviation companies reduce their environmental impact. By using waste materials available in Brazil, Firefly aims to support the global transition to cleaner energy.

The partnership highlights the importance of combining expertise and infrastructure to promote renewable energy and sustainability, reinforcing Brazil’s role as a leader in the biofuels industry.
