Finland and Morocco discuss cooperation in green hydrogen

On Tuesday, August 6, Finland and Morocco explored opportunities for collaboration in water management, renewable energy, green hydrogen, cybersecurity, and telecommunications in Helsinki, reported Bioenergy Central.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen met with her Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, who was visiting Finland for this purpose. Both nations see potential in digitalization, particularly in cybersecurity and 5G networks.

As per media report, they also reviewed their signed memorandums of understanding on renewable energy and water management. Finland can contribute its expertise in water technologies and smart solutions aligned with Morocco’s priorities.

The ministers agreed to have experts identify additional areas of mutual interest. Both countries have ambitious renewable energy goals and are committed to supporting the green transition, including green hydrogen.

They also noted potential for collaboration in the health sector, given Morocco’s ongoing reforms. The ministers decided to incorporate economic and trade aspects into their annual political consultations and plan to host an economic forum in 2025, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Morocco.
