Elan Energy has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for 16 Compressed Biogas (CBG) projects across India by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The contract, valued at around INR 300 million, will set up facilities to convert agricultural residue, municipal solid waste, and biomass into clean fuel, reports Energetica India.
These projects are part of India’s SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) programme, which seeks to expand the nation’s bioenergy capacity and provide economic opportunities in rural areas.
BPCL selected Elan Energy for its expertise in large-scale energy projects, engineering capabilities, and focus on sustainability. A company spokesperson said, “Elan Energy’s experience in handling complex CBG projects made them the right partner for this initiative.”
Under the PMC role, Elan Energy will oversee all stages of the projects, including engineering design, vendor selection, execution supervision, commissioning, and operational readiness. By ensuring high-quality and timely delivery across all sites, the company will help build one of India’s largest CBG production networks, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
