Egypt aims to become world centre of green hydrogen production by 2030: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly

Egypt aims to position itself as a global hub for carbon-free green hydrogen production by 2030, according to Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Green hydrogen is generated by electrolyzing water using electricity from renewable sources such as hydro, solar, wind, or other forms of renewable energy, ensuring the process is entirely carbon-free. Some experts suggest that offshore wind farms represent the optimal choice for green hydrogen production.

“We aspire to establish Egypt as a global center for green hydrogen production by 2030,” Madbouly stated during a parliamentary session.

Last week, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi swore in a new cabinet. Madbouly retained his position as head of the government, though the reshuffle saw the appointment of more than 20 new ministers, including those for Foreign Affairs and Defence, as well as the establishment of a new Ministry of Investment.
