CM Rekha Gupta accelerates biogas project plans in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has issued fresh directives to speed up the establishment of biogas plants near Delhi’s dairy clusters, reports The Tribune.

The highlight of her administrative engagements during her recent visit to Mathura was the inauguration of a Waste-to-Wealth Bio-CNG plant in Kumar village. The facility transforms cow dung into compressed natural gas (CNG) and organic fertilizer. Calling the initiative a model for environmental sustainability, the Chief Minister announced plans to replicate similar projects across Delhi.

She directed officials to urgently identify land near the city’s dairy colonies to set up bio-CNG plants, highlighting their importance in fighting pollution and expanding Delhi’s green energy supply.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Gupta said that Proper disposal of cow dung is essential for making the Yamuna clean and pure again. Our government is serious about building bio-CNG plants and will soon launch two new projects near dairy colonies.

After returning to Delhi, CM Gupta held a review meeting with senior officials to discuss biogas project plans. She asked departments to fast-track the identification of suitable sites and begin groundwork immediately.

“These plants are vital to our mission to clean Delhi and restore the Yamuna’s sanctity,” she said, adding that her government is fully committed to ensuring swift execution.
