Anaergia Inc., through its subsidiary Anaergia S.r.l., has signed a binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Capwatt Biomethane Unipessoal, Lda. As part of the agreement, Anaergia will design and construct nine advanced biomethane production facilities that will convert agro-industrial waste into renewable energy. These facilities will be located across Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
The projects are scheduled to be completed within the next 30 months and are expected to bring in over C$60 million in total revenue for Anaergia during that period. Anaergia will be responsible for the design of each plant, incorporating its proprietary technologies—including anaerobic digesters—to ensure high efficiency and reliability. These systems are expected to play a key role in enhancing Europe’s green energy infrastructure and boosting biomethane output.
Sérgio Rocha, CEO of Capwatt, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “This agreement will lead to the production of 556,000 MWh of high-quality biomethane annually. It reflects Capwatt’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions and supporting the broader energy transition.”
Assaf Onn, CEO of Anaergia, emphasized the strength of the companies’ ongoing collaboration. “This new agreement builds on our previous work with Capwatt, including two biomethane projects in Portugal and another in Italy. It’s a strong vote of confidence in Anaergia’s ability to deliver complex projects at scale.”
