A driver lost his life when a vehicle carrying ethanol burst into flames while speeding to evade police officers. The incident occurred at Makhoko Commercial Centre along the Kakamega-Kisumu highway, reports Citizen Digital.
According to eyewitness James Kisa, the driver was attempting to escape after police flagged him down. In the process, he lost control of the vehicle, which hit a barrier and rolled several times before catching fire, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
Three other people were injured in the incident, including a boda boda rider and his passenger, who were caught up in the chaos.
Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to it.
