At the Auto Expo 2025, Hyundai quietly unveiled a unique variant of its popular Creta SUV—a 1.0 Turbo petrol model that runs entirely on E100 ethanol. While this version is primarily marketed in South America, where ethanol-powered vehicles are more popular, its presence in India signals Hyundai’s focus on flex-fuel technology.
The Creta 1.0T shares its engine with the Hyundai Venue and i20, featuring a 1.0-litre GDI turbo petrol unit producing 120hp and 172Nm. This engine has been modified to run exclusively on E100 ethanol, which contains no petrol. The vehicle is equipped with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Visually, the Creta 1.0T looks identical to other models in the Creta line-up. Apart from its smaller ethanol-compatible engine, it lacks any unique features to distinguish it from its counterparts.
Although Hyundai hasn’t announced its plans to introduce the 1.0 Turbo Creta in India, this display at the Auto Expo shows the company is ready for alternative fuel technologies. The Indian market currently offers Creta with two petrol variants, a diesel, and the newly launched Creta Electric.
