Maruti Suzuki crosses 50,000 EV exports, accounts for 93% of India’s electric PV shipments

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has crossed 50,000 units in cumulative exports of its made-in-India electric vehicles since beginning overseas shipments in August 2025, strengthening India’s position in the global electric mobility market, the company said in a press released with the BSE.

The company accounted for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026, retaining its position as the country’s largest EV exporter, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Maruti Suzuki began exporting its electric vehicles to Europe, which continues to be its largest overseas market. Its EVs are now shipped to nearly 50 countries, including the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the export milestone reflected India’s growing manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness in the global electric vehicle market. The company’s EV export journey began with the production of the e-VITARA at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat in August 2025.

Maruti Suzuki was also India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive financial year in FY2025-26. It accounted for more than 50% of the country’s passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026.

The company currently exports 16 vehicle models to nearly 120 countries.

The Hansalpur facility serves as the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle. It recently expanded its annual production capacity to 1 million vehicles, becoming Suzuki’s first manufacturing facility worldwide to achieve this capacity at a single location.

With cumulative investments of Rs 25,288.7 crore, the Gujarat facility is also a major export hub, accounting for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s total overseas shipments in FY2025-26.
