US fuel ethanol production rose to 1.118 million barrels per day (b/d) in the week ended October 23, 2026, an increase of 25,000 b/d from the previous week, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on October 28 and accessed by ChiniMandi.
Production stood at 1.094 million b/d in the previous week, while the year-ago level was 1.091 million b/d. The latest output was therefore 27,000 b/d higher than the corresponding week last year.
Meanwhile, US fuel ethanol exports declined by 16,000 b/d, or 12.1%, to 116,000 b/d during the reporting week, compared with 132,000 b/d in the previous week. Exports were also lower than the 175,000 b/d recorded during the corresponding week last year.
Fuel ethanol inventories edged down to 24.5 million barrels from 24.6 million barrels in the previous week. However, stocks remained 9.6% higher than the 22.4 million barrels reported during the same period last year. They were also 12.6% above the 21.8 million barrels recorded two years earlier.
The Midwest accounted for the largest share of fuel ethanol inventories, with 9.8 million barrels, followed by the Gulf Coast with 5 million barrels and the East Coast with 6.8 million barrels.
The latest figures show higher domestic ethanol production alongside lower exports and a marginal weekly decline in inventories, while stocks continued to remain above year-ago levels.
