India’s electric two-wheeler registrations rose 68% year-on-year to 173,294 units in July, although volumes declined 11% from 194,300 units in June as promotional discounts tapered off, according to government Vahan data as of July 29.
TVS Motor retained its position as the market leader, registering 47,242 units during the month and increasing its market share to 27.3% from 24.3% in June, Moneycontrol reported.
Bajaj Auto remained the second-largest player with 38,974 registrations, accounting for a 22.5% market share, followed by Ather Energy, which sold 25,907 units for a 14.9% share. Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand recorded 18,611 registrations, capturing 10.7% of the market.
Industry participants attributed the sequential decline to the end of promotional schemes that had boosted June sales.
“June was a strong month because of discounts and promotional schemes. With many of those offers ending, July saw a normalisation in volumes. We expect demand to pick up again as companies roll out festive season offers. Overall, we are seeing good demand within India and outside,” an industry source told Moneycontrol.
Ola Electric registered 11,880 units in July, with its market share falling to 6.9% from 8.3% in June, placing it fifth in the market. The company has, however, recovered from its low earlier this year, with registrations rising from 4,035 units in February 2026 to 11,880 units in July, although both monthly volumes and market share declined from June.
The “Others” category accounted for 30,680 registrations, representing 17.7% of industry volumes, compared with 34,308 units in June.
Despite the month-on-month decline, July registrations remained substantially above the 105,620 units recorded in May 2025 and 111,441 units in June 2025. The market also remained above 150,000 units for the fourth time in the past five months, highlighting sustained growth in electric two-wheeler adoption in India.
