ACME Solar Holdings Limited said its subsidiaries had commissioned about 2.29 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in the current financial year, taking its total operational BESS capacity to around 3.62 GWh across three project sites in Rajasthan.
In a stock exchange filing, the company said the scale-up was among the fastest for BESS capacity in India and marked a significant step toward strengthening grid stability, supporting peak-hour power demand, and advancing round-the-clock renewable energy supply. The filing was submitted by Rajesh Sodhi, ACME Solar’s Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.
In the same filing, ACME Solar provided an update on the root cause analysis (RCA) into a fire incident at its Suryodaya BESS facility in Pokhran, Rajasthan, which the company had first disclosed in a media statement on July 17, 2026.
The RCA found that the incident was caused by an electrical short circuit that triggered a localised fire in the AC cables between the transformer and the power conversion system (PCS), resulting in an equipment shutdown, the company said. It added that the fire did not damage other on-site equipment, was brought under control quickly, and that restoration work at the facility has since been completed.
ACME Solar acknowledged the swift response of its on-site staff and the technical support extended by its partners during and after the incident.
According to the company, its overall renewable energy portfolio stands at 8,070 MW, spanning solar, wind, storage, Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) and hybrid projects. Of this, 2,990 MW is under operational contracted capacity, in addition to its 3.62 GWh of BESS capacity, while 5,080 MW is under-construction contracted capacity. The company said its under-construction portfolio with signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) stood at 3,880 MW.
