US fuel ethanol production rose by more than 5 per cent in the week ended July 17, while inventories edged higher and exports nearly doubled from the previous week, according to the latest data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Ethanol Producer Magazine reported.
The EIA said ethanol production averaged 1.094 million barrels per day, an increase of 54,000 barrels per day from 1.040 million barrels per day in the previous week. Production was also 16,000 barrels per day higher than in the corresponding week last year.
Fuel ethanol stocks increased slightly during the reporting week. Inventories stood at 24.481 million barrels, up 90,000 barrels from 24.391 million barrels a week earlier. Compared with the same week in 2025, stocks were higher by 37,000 barrels, according to the EIA.
Export activity strengthened significantly, with fuel ethanol exports averaging 158,000 barrels per day, up 77,000 barrels per day from 81,000 barrels per day in the previous week. Exports were also 50,000 barrels per day higher than those recorded during the same week last year.
The EIA reported no fuel ethanol imports during the week ended July 17.
The weekly EIA figures are closely watched by the biofuel industry as they provide an indication of ethanol production, inventory levels and export demand in the United States.
