The Delhi government has proposed major incentives under its draft Electric Vehicle Policy 2026–2030 to speed up the shift to clean transport in the national capital.
According to the draft, all electric cars priced up to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and registered in Delhi will be given full exemption from road tax and registration fees until March 31, 2030, Akashwani News reported.
The policy also outlines a financial outlay of more than Rs 3,900 crore to promote electric vehicles across categories. Officials said the plan includes purchase and scrappage incentives aimed at encouraging people to move away from conventional fuel-based vehicles.
For electric two-wheelers priced up to Rs 2.25 lakh, the government has proposed incentives starting at Rs 10,000 per kilowatt hour in the first year. Electric three-wheelers, including e-autos, will receive incentives ranging from Rs 50,000 in the first year to Rs 30,000 by the third year.
In the case of electric goods carriers, incentives for four-wheelers are expected to go up to Rs 1 lakh initially, according to the draft policy.
The government said these measures are designed to make electric vehicles more affordable and accelerate their adoption, while also helping reduce pollution levels in the city.
