The U.S. saw an increase in renewable blending credits in October compared with September, according to data released Thursday by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), reported Reuters.
Ethanol (D6) blending credits reached approximately 1.28 billion in October, up from around 1.23 billion in September. Meanwhile, biodiesel (D4) blending credits rose to 665 million in October, up from 660 million the previous month.
These credits are used by oil refiners and importers to demonstrate compliance with EPA-mandated renewable blending requirements for petroleum-based fuels. They are issued for every gallon of biofuel produced.
