Punjab: Pingalwara society opens biogas plant at Manawala complex

On the second day of celebrating the 120th birth anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh, founder of the All India Pingalwara Society, a bio-gas plant was inaugurated today. Led by Society president Dr. Inderjit Kaur, members inaugurated the plant at its Manawala complex, reported The Tribune.

The event welcomed distinguished guests Bhagwant Singh Dilawary, a socio-religious activist running an Ashram for leprosy patients in Amravati, and Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, former IG and Amritsar North MLA.

As per media report, Dr. Inderjit Kaur, addressing the gathering, expressed pride in Pingalwara’s accomplishment in establishing a fully operational bio-gas plant. The gas produced now fuels the langar hall of the Manawala organization.

Located adjacent to the cow shelter at the rear of the Manawala complex, the plant reflects Pingalwara’s commitment to alternative energy sources. The organization has set an example by implementing natural farming techniques in its farms for vegetable and crop cultivation. Dr. Inderjit Kaur credited Lambra Kangri multipurpose cooperative service society as an inspiration for setting up the biogas plant.

Harpal Singh Chika, Director of Punjabi Sahit and Sanskriti, emphasized the pressing need for a safe and pollution-free environment. He advocated for the judicious utilization of natural resources to ensure humanity’s future.
