EGC Group expands in Bavaria with acquisition of BayWa Energie Dienstleistungs GmbH

EGC Group has bought BayWa Energie Dienstleistungs GmbH (BayWa EDL), increasing its presence in Bavaria and completing its network across Germany, reports Bioenergy Insight.

The move helps EGC grow its business in providing energy services for buildings and adds more biomass-based heating solutions to its range of offerings.

BayWa EDL, started in 2009 as part of BayWa AG, runs biomass heating systems and local heating networks. The company operates 52 heating plants, most of which use biomass as fuel, producing about 51,200 megawatt-hours of heat every year.

The purchase supports EGC’s plan to expand steadily by adding more companies that fit its goals.

Earlier this year, EGC teamed up with global investment firm KKR to help make energy use in buildings more sustainable. The company also bought Green Way Energy GmbH and several energy generation sites from BEW Solutions GmbH, covering 140 locations across Germany.

With the addition of BayWa EDL, EGC takes another important step in its effort to support cleaner energy and increase its use of biomass.
