Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has set up a high-level advisory committee to develop Amaravati as India’s leading green hydrogen hub and attract major investments in the sector. The committee will be chaired by NITI Aayog member VK Saraswat, with Chief Secretary K Vijayanand as co-chair. Dr D. Narayana Rao of SRM University will serve as member-secretary, and Kamalakara Babu, MD of APNREDCAP, will act as member-convenor, reports The Times of India.
The 21-member panel includes top scientists, industry experts, and policy specialists. The committee will also help design rules, guidelines, and training programs to support a strong and sustainable hydrogen ecosystem in the state.
Chief Secretary Vijayanand said the July Green Hydrogen Summit, attended by global partners, startups, and leading scientists, led to the Green Hydrogen Valley Declaration. The declaration sets Andhra Pradesh’s goal of becoming India’s largest green hydrogen hub by 2030 and aims to encourage collaboration, innovation, and investment. The initiative also seeks to tackle climate change, improve energy security, and promote clean energy and growth that benefits everyone.
A multi-stakeholder advisory board with working groups has been formed to explore the best technologies for hydrogen production, testing, and storage. Key members include Dr N Yuvaraj (Industries Secretary), Dr RK Malhotra (President, Hydrogen Association of India), Dr Ashish Lele and Dr Arindam Saha (CSIR-NCL), Dr Sujit Pillai (MNRE National Hydrogen Mission), and Amit Saran (Ministry of Railways), along with other scientists, experts, and industry leaders.
