GPS Renewables, the world’s leading biogas engineering firm, has named Ravikumar SV as CEO of the newly formed Bharat GPS Bioenergy Private Limited (BGBPL), a joint venture with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), established to accelerate India’s shift toward bioenergy. He will lead the company’s efforts to drive India’s transition to bioenergy.
Ravikumar brings nearly 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, with a strong background in project planning, cost management, and execution. His appointment was confirmed during BGBPL’s inaugural board meeting on July 2.
“The collaboration between GPS Renewables and Bharat Petroleum is poised to significantly boost biogas production in India. We are initially targeting 8 to 12 projects to build a strong compressed biogas (CBG) network nationwide,” Ravikumar stated.
An alumnus of the College of Engineering, Guindy (Anna University), Ravikumar previously held the position of senior vice president, managing crucial responsibilities in project planning and implementation. Recognized for his expertise in engineering and program management, he is expected to play a key role in expanding India’s biogas infrastructure.
Mainak Chakraborty, CEO and Co-Founder of GPS Renewables, commented, “Ravikumar’s in-depth knowledge of the oil and gas industry and his proven ability to manage large-scale projects will be invaluable to BGBPL. His leadership will be critical in advancing biofuels and supporting India’s clean energy goals.”
The BGBPL joint venture is committed to developing large-scale CBG facilities across India, aligning with the government’s broader agenda to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote sustainable energy solutions.
