Xiaomi raises electric vehicle delivery target for 2026

Xiaomi Corp. is placing greater emphasis on its electric vehicle business as it looks to broaden its sources of income, setting a higher delivery target of 550,000 vehicles for 2026, reports Caixin global.

The revised target was announced by company founder Lei Jun during a livestream on Saturday. The new goal represents an increase of about 34 per cent compared with the 410,000 vehicles delivered last year.

The higher target reflects Xiaomi’s confidence in the growth of its electric vehicle segment, even as the company faces strong competition in the market and public scrutiny over the safety of its assisted driving features following a fatal crash in March involving a Xiaomi sedan operating with its automated driving system switched on.
