Ulhasnagar: In a significant step towards sustainable living, Ulhasnagar city unveiled its first Waste Management Bio Gas Plant on the occasion of World Environment Day. The plant was inaugurated by local BJP MLA Kumar Ailani and BJP Ulhasnagar District President Rajesh Vadhrya, reports The Times of India.
This bio gas plant has been set up inside the private Regency Antilia residential complex, developed by the Regency Group. Waste generated by hundreds of households in the complex will now be treated within the premises, instead of being sent to the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation’s dumping site.
Speaking at the inauguration, Regency Group Chairman Mahesh Agrawal said the plant marks a first for Ulhasnagar. “We are collecting wet waste from every household in our complex and using it to generate bio gas and electricity. Thousands of residents live here, and this system will help manage their waste sustainably,” he said.
According to Rajesh Vadhrya, the plant has the capacity to process up to 4,000 kg of waste daily. “The gas produced will power the entire plant, while 200 to 250 units of electricity will be generated every day. This will be used for utility services within the complex,” he said. He also noted that dung from a cow shed within the premises will be added to the plant to boost gas production.
MLA Kumar Ailani urged other housing societies in Ulhasnagar to take similar initiatives for environmental conservation. “This is a step forward in protecting our environment. I appeal to other complexes to adopt this model and contribute to a cleaner city,” he said.
