Thermogenics launches biogas enrichment system for cleaner, smarter boiler operations

Thermogenics, a North American leader in boiler lifecycle solutions, has unveiled a new biogas enrichment system that allows industrial boilers to run on renewable biogas, either independently or in combination with natural gas. The system is designed to meet the growing sustainability demands of sectors such as food and beverage, waste management, and other environmentally conscious industries, reports Biomass Magazine.

“Our systems are now running at 500 BHP using both natural gas and biogas,” said Dean Johnson, Director of Technical Services at Thermogenics. “When properly treated, biogas becomes a clean-burning, renewable fuel that reduces emissions by capturing methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere.”

Ross Garland, CEO of Thermogenics, added, “We’re helping customers turn waste into energy while keeping their operations reliable.”

Dual-Approach Solution for Digester Gas Producers

To cater to varying biogas production levels, Thermogenics offers two flexible configurations:

100% Biogas Firing: Designed for facilities with a steady and high-volume biogas output—such as food and beverage processors—this option allows boilers to run completely on renewable fuel.

Co-Burn Enrichment: Tailored for sites with inconsistent or smaller biogas supply, this solution blends biogas with natural gas. The system “baselines” the biogas production (e.g., 4,000 cubic feet per hour) and automatically supplements with natural gas to maintain consistent boiler output (e.g., 500 BHP). This ensures that operations remain steady and efficient, even with fluctuating biogas availability.
