Polytron begins mass production of electric vehicles in Indonesia

Jakarta: Indonesian electronics company Polytron has officially started producing its electric vehicles (EVs) in the country, marking a major step in its efforts to support Indonesia’s shift to cleaner transportation, reports Jakarta Globe.Id.

The launch of mass production comes just a month after the company opened its first Polytron EV Gallery & Service showroom in South Jakarta. The company is now assembling its G3+ and G3 electric vehicles at the Handal Indonesia Motor facility in Purwakarta, West Java.

In a statement released Friday, Polytron said its production line includes advanced equipment to ensure the performance and safety of each vehicle. This includes a testing system that can check the performance of vehicles with front-, rear-, or all-wheel drive. The system also tracks battery temperature during testing to make sure everything is working safely before the vehicle reaches the customer.

Polytron’s vehicles go through several checks during production, including tests after battery installation, checks during assembly, water resistance tests, and final inspections before delivery.

“Our team is fully focused on making sure every car that leaves the factory meets high safety and quality standards. We want our customers to feel confident in what they’re driving,” said Polytron CEO Hariono.

To support production, the company has installed automated tools to handle battery filling, vehicle performance testing, safety checks, and system calibration. The Purwakarta facility is designed to produce up to 30,000 electric vehicles each year.

Customers can choose between two purchase options. The “Buy to Own” model includes the vehicle and battery, along with an eight-year or 180,000-kilometer battery warranty, and a five-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty for the vehicle. Polytron also offers a buyback guarantee of up to 70 percent within three years.

The second option allows customers to buy the vehicle without the battery and lease the battery separately. This model includes a lifetime battery warranty during the lease period, offering a more affordable way for people to switch to electric vehicles.

Polytron’s move into EV production supports Indonesia’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2060. It also shows the company’s commitment to helping build a local electric vehicle industry that is ready for the future.
