Officials of Punjab Energy Development Agency asked to speed up projects for establishing biogas plants

Ludhiana: Local Bodies Minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal have asked the officials of the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) to speed up the work to set up biogas plants in Haibowal and Tajpur road dairy complex.

While one plant is already functional at Haibowal, another is planned at the same location to generate biogas using cow dung.

Municipal officials were asked to hire private contractors to collect cow dung from dairy complexes and transport it to designated sites until the biogas plants become operational. Officials confirmed that machinery and manpower are already in place for lifting cow dung, and tenders for hiring contractors will soon be floated.

The inspection team included Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh, Municipal Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, PPCB Ludhiana Chief Engineer RK Rattra, and other officials.
